Six Palm Desert golfers advance from CIF...

Six members of the Palm Desert High School boys’ golf team advanced from a CIF-Southern Section preliminary event Monday and will compete for a CIF-SS individual title next week. Luke Ringkamp of Palm Desert led the local golfers in the field with a 2-under 72 on the par-74 South Course at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. Also finishing in the top 20 of the 135-player field were teammates Landon Breisch with a 73, Austin Woods with a 74, Caden Breisch with a 74, Max Margolis with a 75 and Joshua Householder with a 75.

Those six players will advance to the CIF-SS individual finals May 22 at Temecula Creek Inn, the same site and the same day of the CIF-SS team qualifying tournament. That is a step toward the CIF state championship for both teams and individuals. Luke Bohmer of Linfield Christian was medalist at the Los Serranos preliminary event with a 67, followed by Brady Fonville of Apple Valley at 70 and Ringkamp at 72. Ringkamp’s round included five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey.
