It’s the lowest round by any female player at Omni La Costa the past three years. LSU’s Megan McChrystal carded the first 64 in NCAA Championship history during the final round in 2010 at Country Club of Landfall in North Carolina. Thirteen years later, USC’s Catherine Park did it during the second round at Grayhawk in Arizona.
Wu’s round started with a birdie on the par-4 first hole. She turned in 3-under 33 but birdied Nos. 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17 en route to her record-tying 64.
It’s the second-lowest round in Florida history. Her previous best round this year was a 65 in the Gators’ home tournament. Ranked 32nd in the NCAA Golf Ranking, her round was 12 strokes better than her opener Friday, when she came home in 40.
