PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler made the cut on the number this week at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge. Now he’s making a run at the tournament lead. Scheffler was 7 under through 11 holes in his third round Saturday at Colonial Country Club and has moved inside the top five. He did cool off from there, with three bogeys and two birdies over his last seven holes to sign for a 64.
Scheffler birdied his first two holes before a trio of pars. He then birdied Nos. 6 and 9 to make the turn in 31. He birdied the 10th before making a 15-footer for eagle on the 11th. Scheffler extended his cuts made streak to 55 on Friday in his home state of Texas. Xander Schauffele holds the active cuts made streak on the PGA Tour at 64.
Scottie Scheffler prepares to play his shot from the ninth tee during the second round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge. Scheffler has finished in the top three in this tournament the last three seasons. Should he win this week, he’ll post three straight wins, the first to do that on Tour since Dustin Johnson in 2017. Three in a row is one of the few things Scheffler hasn’t yet done in his career. Only Johnson and Rory McIlroy in 2014 have won three starts in a row since 2008.
When Scheffler walked off the golf course, he was seven shots back of leader Matti Schmid, who is 3 under through six holes, 14 under overall. This article originally appeared on Golfweek: After barely making the cut, Scottie Scheffler climbs into top 10
